Henderson’s Breakout Month Fuels Patriots’ Winning Streak

Earlier this week, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Week 13. Just 24 hours later, another rising star from the Patriots’ offense received national recognition of his own.

Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson has been named the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 13 and was also voted the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month. His impressive showing came during New England’s 33–15 victory over the New York Giants, where he led the team with 67 rushing yards on 11 carries and added 19 receiving yards out of the backfield.

The Ohio State product’s speed and acceleration were on full display throughout the game. New England’s second-round pick broke off several explosive runs, helping the Patriots surpass 100 rushing yards as part of a complete team effort—even though the ground game didn’t produce a touchdown. Over the month of November, Henderson totaled 497 yards from scrimmage, caught 16 passes, and scored five touchdowns.

First Patriot to Claim the Weekly Honor Since 2019

“We can go pretty far,” Henderson said after the win. “But the biggest thing is staying grounded—taking it week by week, game by game, day by day, and just focusing on continuing to win.”

Henderson has quickly become a crucial piece of a Patriots offense that had struggled to run the ball effectively in recent years. Under head coach Mike Vrabel, the 2025 team has revitalized its ground attack, with Henderson serving as a key component during the team’s 10-game winning streak.

Speaking about Vrabel’s impact, Henderson added, “He connects with players really well, and he’s played the game himself, so he truly understands us. His passion shows in everything he does. As a coach, he’s energetic, detailed, and really knows how to reach the guys on this team.”

So far this season, Henderson has carried the ball 129 times for a team-leading 625 rushing yards. He’s also contributed as a receiver, posting 32 catches for 199 yards. He has scored six total touchdowns, including a standout three-touchdown performance in Week 11 against the New York Jets.

This marks Henderson’s first time winning the league’s Rookie of the Week award and the first time any Patriot has done so since defensive end Chase Winovich earned it in 2019. The most recent New England players to win Rookie of the Month honors were cornerback Christian Gonzalez in September 2023 and quarterback Mac Jones in November 2021.

Other Week 13 nominees included Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, Bears running back Kyle Monangai, Broncos running back RJ Harvey, Browns running back Quinshon Judkins, and Panthers safety Lathan Ransom.
