New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye just picked up one of the biggest compliments of his young NFL career. FS1 personality Colin Cowherd publicly labeled the second-year QB as someone with “all-time” potential. Speaking on The Herd, Cowherd highlighted Maye’s exceptional arm strength, calm under pressure, and how quickly he has advanced under head coach Mike Vrabel.
According to Cowherd, “Teams find franchise quarterbacks every year — but an all-time great shows up only once every four or five years. I think we’ve found one.”
The Patriots’ 2025 campaign has been a shocking revival. After suffering through consecutive 4–13 seasons, New England now owns the league’s best record at 11–2 and enters its Week 14 bye riding a dominant 10-game winning streak. Vrabel’s leadership has been a major factor, but Maye’s near–MVP-level performance has become the foundation of the team’s resurgence.
The Patriots currently sit first in the NFL in passing efficiency and hold a top-five scoring defense, putting them in prime position to take back the AFC East for the first time since 2019 and battle for the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
Maye’s second-year explosion has become one of the defining stories of the season. Through 13 games, he has completed 276 of 386 passes for 3,412 yards with 23 touchdowns against just six interceptions, all while posting an elite 111.9 passer rating. His mobility has also contributed 319 rushing yards and two additional touchdowns.
With top-tier physical skills and Cowherd publicly stamping him as a potential “all-timer,” Maye has firmly established himself as a true MVP candidate — and the undisputed cornerstone of New England’s return to championship contention.
